Public Awareness of Selective Mutism
Stryhalová, Nela ; Korandová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Klenková, Jiřina (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with elective mutism. Attention was paid to the definition, symptomatology and speech therapy intervention of this communication disorder, and above all to the analysis of the level of public awareness of elective mutism. Analyzing the level of public awareness of elective mutism was the main research objective of this paper. The motivation for investigating this issue was the fact that there is currently no research survey in the Czech Republic that would map the public's awareness of elective mutism. However, a higher level of public awareness of this disorder has a positive effect on early diagnosis, and early diagnosis positively affects the success of subsequent therapy. The research was conducted using quantitative research, with a questionnaire used as a research tool. The administration of the questionnaire was carried out online, data collection was completed after obtaining 200 responses. The obtained data were processed in the MS Excel program. Subsequently, two predetermined hypotheses were tested, one of them saying that the level of elective mutism awareness dependents on the field of education of the respondents was confirmed. The answers also showed that the majority of respondents are not informed about elective mutism and hold the opinion that the public...
Public awareness about ionizing radiation from natural sources
HRBKOVÁ, Jana
Ionizing radiation comes from artificial or natural sources. Greater collective exposure of the population is caused by natural resources. Natural sources of ionizing radiation are cosmic radiation and natural radionuclides (cosmogenic and terrestrial). Radon and its products are the main contributors of natural irradiation. In the Czech Republic, the average indoor radon concentration is 118 Bq/m3, which ranks us among the countries with the highest average concentration of radon in dwellings. Radon is considered to be the second leading cause of lung cancer. Due to the possible health risks from radon, there is an effort in our country and in many other countries to regulate radon concentration in some way. The purpose of this diploma thesis was to find out how much is the public aware of the issue of ionizing radiation from natural sources and to create information material on this topic. Also compare how some countries approach the issue of radon regulation. In order to collect necessary data for my thesis a questionnaire survey was conducted. I also used professional resources. The electronic survey, which I created on website www.vyplnto.cz, was filled in by 362 respondents. All the results of the survey were displayed in pie charts. Questions no. 3-16, which were focused on awareness, were also displayed in bar charts, which show the percentage of correct answers by level of education. Thanks to the data from the survey I was able to answer research questions. In the first research question, I asked whether the public is sufficiently informed about ionizing radiation from natural sources; in the second research question, I wanted to know who has the least awareness on this topic based on education. I evaluated that the public is not sufficiently informed and people with just primary education have the least awareness about this topic. In the Canva program, I also created information material about ionizing radiation, in the form of a double-sided A5 leaflet. It can serve to increase public awareness of the issue. With help of professional sources, I also found out how some countries regulate radon concentration. I paid particular attention to the Czech Republic, where the history of radon regulation dates back to the 1990.
Public awareness and attitudes of teachers to children with ADHD
JANÁKOVÁ, Aneta
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of public awareness and attitudes of teachers towards children with ADHD. The aim of my work was to find out how the public is aware of this issue and what influence the media have on the information provided. I also found out what experience and knowledge have with ADHD children kindergarten teachers. The theoretical part describes in more detail the issue of ADHD, from the beginning of the definition of ADHD to the current concept. The next chapters are devoted to the manifestations, causes and diagnostics of children with this syndrome. The whole theoretical part is completed with therapies that are used for the treatment and alleviation of ADHD symptoms. The practical part is divided into two sections. The first section is focused on kindergarten teachers, where I found out in the form of interviews what their experiences are with the education of children with ADHD and what attitude the teachers takes towards these children. These interviews were subsequently evaluated. The second section is focused on the public, which answered questions related to ADHD and the influence of the media in the form of a questionnaire. All the answers from the questionnaires were processed into graphs and then evaluated. The results showed that kindergarten teachers are sufficiently familiar with the issue of ADHD and know how to approach children with this disorder and educate them. Another part of the results shows that the public knows the issue of ADHD and can imagine what this disorder entails.
Economic and social limits of the use of earth in architecture. Role of education.
Neumayerová, Eva ; Novotný, Martin (referee) ; Pifko,, Henrich (referee) ; Žabičková, Ivana (advisor)
Earth as a building material was known for centuries and widely used in traditional construction. But during the social and economic development, it was gradually replaced by industrially produced materials with more stable mechanical properties. In many countries, the tradition of using earth in buildings had practically disappeared for a long time. In recent decades, the awareness of earth as a building material has increased, especially due to the growing interest of society in healthy living and the quality of the living environment. Despite its many advantages, earth is still not a commonly used building material. What is the position of earth in current construction and does earth have the potential for the future to be more than an alternative and experimental material? What is limiting the development of the use of earth in constructions? This work examines the limits of the use of earth in architecture in the social, economic and cultural context. It analyzes various approaches and ways of using earth in architecture, determines the level of public awareness and the availability of vocational education and examines the situation of the construction market and legislative restrictions in the implementation process. Based on the findings of the survey, this work defines important conditions and possible ways of further development of the use of earth in construction. The content of this thesis is to contribute to the current topic of the development of architecture using traditional materials and materials from renewable resources.

The final report is the output of research regarding „Czech public awareness of the EEA and Norway Grants“. The report presents the results of representative research, the target group for which was the population of the Czech Republic ages 15 and older. Data was collected between 5 and 17 January 2019 through the personal questioning of respondents (a combination of CAPI and PAPI) based on a standardised questionnaire. A total of 1,087 respondents were questioned, and these individuals were selected using a quota method according to region, the size of the place of residence, age, and education level.
The use and misuse of ionizing and non- ionizing radiation
MAJEROVÁ, Natálie
This dissertation is divided in two parts: a theoretical, and a practical one. The purpose of the theoretical part is to introduce the reader to the elementary terms of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, their types, sources, influence on humans, as well as possible manners of their use and abuse. The goal of the thesis is to evaluate possible use and abuse of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. In the interest of clarity, the gathered information was included in the results chapter as a chart. The practical part deals primarily with the first research question whose aim was to establish the level of public awareness about ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. To get answers, the method of data collection by means of a questionnaire survey was employed. The questionnaire consisted of 19 questions in total. The first 3 questions split the respondents into categories based on their gender, age, and educational attainment. The main part of the questionnaire involved 12 closed-ended questions, evaluated by a test. The survey was concluded by 4 opened-ended questions. The questionnaire survey provided a multitude of findings, most importantly that the average public awareness of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation is 57.7%. Finally, the discussion part answers the second research question which sought to determine whether there's a greater danger of ionizing radiation sources being abused.
The level of awareness of inhabitants about the problems of large-scale electrical power failures
HAJDAJOVÁ, Natálie
The diploma thesis deals with large-scale electrical power failures, in other words about blackouts. The work is then divided into two sections. The theoretical part describes the (critical) infrastructure, which is undoubtedly part of the electrical energy, further introduces the reader to the electricity system of the Czech Republic and also with blackout as such. The last chapter analyzes some important outages in the world and in total of eight blackouts and trying to point out how technical defects, control errors or extreme weather manifestation can negatively affect the lives of each of us. In the practical part are mentioned two objectives. The first, main aim of the diploma thesis is to find out and assess the level of knowledge of inhabitants about the problems of large-scale electrical power failures, with a hypothesis claims that awareness of the population in selected municipalities with extended competence does not reach 80 %. The exploration is carried out on two municipalities with extended competence Uherské Hradiště and České Budějovice. Obtained data are then evaluated by a comparative approach. Based on the results of the research, remedies are being suggested, purpose of the remedies is to improve the system of informing the population about the subject matter. This is the second objective. According to the objectives and for the needs of my thesis, I used the method of collecting data in the form of a questionnaire survey which carries elements of quantitative research. The thesis and its results can serve as a study material which could be further used for other research. Also it may be inspired by considering how to improve the awareness of the inhabitants.
Public awareness about the oil shortage in the South Bohemian region
VACEK, Jan
The diploma thesis is focused on the assessment of the level of public awareness on the issue of oil shortage in the territory of the South Bohemian Region and the comparsion of the obtained data with the results obtained in the region of Pilsen. The results of this research are linked to the second objective of proposing measures to improve the information system on the given issue. For the needs of the thesis, quantitative research was chosen as a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire itself consists of 17 semi closed questions, with 3 filtering questions in the introduction, ranking respondents by sex, age and municipality, followed by 14 specific questions. The purpose of the research is to determine the level of public awareness of possible regulatory measures related to the declaration of the state of oil shortage, focusing on fuel shortages, powers of state administration and self-government authorities and a general overview of the oil security of the Czech Republic. The data obtained suggest that the average knowledge of the correct answers averages around 65 % on average, but succes rates vary from 30 to 94 %. Questions with a low average success of the right answers are potential topics for improving awareness, for example through short TV spots, training courses, or information brochures. The diploma thesis can be used for educational purposes as a starting material for follow-up research, or it can serve as an inspiration for finding a suitable way of communicating with the public in the field of crisis management.
Impact of type of housing on waste recycling - case study of the Písek region
VACKOVÁ, Jana
My thesis aims to clarify issues regarding waste sorting and the willingness of the population according to the type of their residence to sort waste. The theoretical part focuses on waste management in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries. The main objective was to describe the waste management in the Písek region. I concentrated on the description of particular technologies, especially recycling. Another chapter describes the relationship of the population to waste sorting, as human behaviour and lifestyle are the main causes of environmental damage. Recycling may be the right way to decrease the negative impact of human society on the environment. The practical part presents the results of the quantitative research conducted by means of a questionnaire. According to the respondents´ answers, I was able to conclude the differences of waste separation between the town and village. From the total of 247 respondents, 80 % sort the waste, 16 % sometimes sort it, and 4 % never do so. The categories of respondents differ in the amount of waste sorting, however, the difference is not statistically significant (Chi Squared test = 2,075; s. v. = 4; p = 0,722). Depending on the type of residence, the highest percentage 87 % - of waste sorting occurs in the housing estate category and zero percentage of respondents in this category never sorts. I was also concerned with the difference in the degree of sorting of individual commodities depending on the type of residence. It is significant only in the amount of sorting hazardous waste (Chi Squared test = 18,5; s. v. = 4; p = 0,001). In the case of other commodities, the type of residence does not affect the amount of their separation. It is obvious that the type of build-up area affects the way of life of the population and thus the amount of waste they produce. In general, the degree of diversity in respondents´ waste sorting depends on their education, experience, life priorities and public awareness of waste management.
